Meijer LPGA Classic is looking for volunteers

TOWNSHIP OF PLAINFIELD, Mich. (WOOD) — Meijer is looking for 1,000 volunteers to help organize the annual LPGA Classic.

This year, the LPGA Classic will take place June 13-19 at Blythefield Country Club in Plainfield Township.

Volunteers can fulfill roles on 20 different committees for the event, including Flag Bearers, Discovery Land, Transportation and Large Scale Hospitality. There will also be a ‘general volunteer’ position that will cover many different parts of the event.

The Meijer LPGA Classic plans to host a full field of 144 top female golfers for four days to play 72 holes. Proceeds from the tournament and other weekly festivities will benefit Meijer’s Just give program that “restocks pantry shelves across the Midwest,” according to a press release.

It costs $30 to volunteer for the event, which includes two official tournament golf shirts, a hat or visor, four weekly passes for friends and family, and food and beverages during your shift. The volunteer badge also functions as a weekly pass and a parking pass.

To register as a volunteer, select a time slot at Meijer LPGA website and volunteer services will send you to a place that needs your help when you arrive. Meijer encourages volunteers to register early since committees and work schedules are first come, first served.

Last year, the LPGA Tournament raised $1.1 million for local pantries. The seven tournaments raised over $8.5 million for the Simply Give program.
